When God Meets You in the Middle

The Story

This week, something simple happened that stayed with me. I was walking from the house to the car — tired, carrying the weight of a long shift, thinking about everything I still needed to do. Nothing dramatic. Just life.

But halfway down the path, I felt that quiet nudge. Not a voice. Not a moment of lightning. Just that gentle sense that God was meeting me in the middle — not at the finish line, not when everything was sorted, but right there between tiredness and responsibility.

It reminded me that God doesn’t wait for us to be perfect, rested, or ready. He meets us in the middle of real life.

The Scripture

“The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth.” — Psalm 145:18

Near. Not distant. Not waiting for us to climb out of the mess. Near — even when we’re halfway down the path, halfway through the week, halfway through becoming who He’s shaping us to be.

And Jesus Himself says:

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” — Matthew 11:28

He doesn’t say, “Come when you’re sorted.” He says, “Come as you are.”

The Reflection

Sometimes we think God meets us at the end of the journey — after the breakthrough, after the healing, after the clarity. But most of the time, He meets us in motion.

In the middle of parenting. In the middle of work. In the middle of becoming. In the middle of trying again.

C.S. Lewis once wrote: “Relying on God has to begin all over again every day as if nothing had yet been done.”

That’s the middle. That’s the Becoming journey. That’s JFH.

And Charles Spurgeon said: “God is too good to be unkind, and He is too wise to be mistaken.” Even when we don’t see the full picture, He’s already walking toward us.

One Practical Tool

This week, try this simple rhythm:

Middle‑Moment Pause

Once a day — morning, afternoon, or evening — pause for 20 seconds and say:

“God, meet me in the middle today.”

That’s it. No long prayer. No pressure. Just an invitation.

You’ll be surprised how much peace comes from a simple pause.

Becoming Statement

I am becoming someone who meets God in the middle — not just at the end.
