Slow Down — The First Movement of the House
Share
Slowing down is not about doing less. It’s about becoming present enough to notice what God is doing right now.
When you slow down, you stop living from adrenaline, pressure, or performance. You return to your breath. You return to your body. You return to God.
Slowing down is how you arrive in the House.
What Slow Down Really Means
- Arriving fully — letting your mind, body, and spirit be in the same place at the same time.
- Releasing hurry — refusing to let urgency shape your identity.
- Becoming aware — noticing what’s happening inside you, not just around you.
- Letting God set the pace — trusting that formation doesn’t need to be rushed.
Slowing down is the doorway to honesty. You can’t tell the truth if you’re sprinting past your own soul.
How to Practise Slow Down (Simple, Real, Doable)
- Take one deep breath — in through the nose, out through the mouth.
- Pause before you speak — let your heart catch up.
- Sit still for 60 seconds — no agenda, no pressure.
- Name what you feel — without judging it.
- Walk slowly — even for 30 seconds.
- Breathe a simple prayer — “Here I am, Lord.”
These are not tasks. They are arrivals.
Why Slow Down Matters in the House
Because God does His deepest work in the places we don’t rush through.
Slowing down:
- Softens your heart
- Opens your awareness
- Creates space for God’s voice
- Breaks the cycle of self‑pressure
- Prepares you for honesty
Slow is not weak. Slow is not passive. Slow is formation.
A Blessing for Slowing Down
May your breath return to you. May your shoulders drop. May your mind quiet. May your spirit settle. And may you feel God meeting you in the gentle pace of your becoming.
